In November 19, the Embassy of Peru in the Republic of Korea held the V Peru Trade and Investment Breakfast Seminar, in the Metropolitan City of Incheon, with the participation of representatives from KOTRA, the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK), the World Bank, and Korean companies from the defense, industrial, and construction sectors based in the city.
The seminar was opened by the Ambassador of Peru to the Republic of Korea, followed by a presentation on Peru’s economic outlook delivered by the official responsible for commercial affairs at the Embassy of Peru; and, the presentation of the positive experience of Dohwa Engineering in Peru by the Honorary Consul in Incheon, encouraging local stakeholders to explore and expand business opportunities with Peru.
Particularly in trade and investment, the relationship between Peru and the Republic of Korea has continued to grow since the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement in 2011. Moreover, the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2012 marked a key milestone in deepening collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
In recognition of the strength of these ties, the Congress of the Republic of Peru has recently approved the establishment of April 1 as “Korea Friendship Day”, a date that celebrates not only the excellent state of bilateral relations, but also the enduring friendship and mutual admiration fostered by governments, institutions, and civil society in both countries over more than six decades of diplomatic engagement.
The establishment of “Korea Friendship Day” stands as a forward-looking platform to honor past achievements while reaffirming the shared commitment of Peru and Korea to further strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership in the years ahead.
